Look Ahead
Looking ahead, I am clear that policing in Lancashire must continue to evolve in response to both national reform and the changing nature of crime.
Police reform will bring opportunities to strengthen accountability, improve effectiveness, and ensure that our services are more responsive to the public we serve. The proposed move towards a mayoral model represents a significant shift in governance, and I am committed to ensuring that, whatever the future structure, the voice of Lancashire’s communities remains firmly at the heart of policing and crime priorities. At the same time, the challenges we face are becoming more complex, from serious and organised crime and cyber threats to the ongoing need to tackle violence, vulnerability, and neighbourhood crime.
Over the next 12 months, the force will also begin a phased transition to electric vehicles, starting with a smaller cohort to ensure that we are able to deliver the same level of service to the public in a more efficient and effective way. This reflects our broader ambition to modernise policing while remaining focused on value for money and sustainability.
My focus will remain on supporting the Chief Constable to deliver a modern, efficient, and community focused service, investing in prevention as well as enforcement, and working in close partnership with local agencies to address the root causes of crime. I will continue to champion the needs of our residents, ensuring that Lancashire is not only safe today but well prepared for the future.
