Commissioner Grunshaw emphasised his ongoing commitment to enhancing neighbourhood policing by increasing the visibility of officers on the streets and within the communities they serve, aiming to reduce crime and improve public trust.

As part of the walkaround in the centre of Darwen, officers shared how they are policing the area and the tactics required, due to the nature of Darwen covering both rural and urban parts.

Following the visit, Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw said:

“It is an important part of my role to engage with key stakeholders and listen to the issues raised by the public.

“I was pleased to hear from the MP and councillors about the great relationships they have been able to form with their local officers, and how passionate the policing team is about the area.

“As Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, I will continue to work closely with the Chief Constable to ensure neighbourhood policing and engagement with the public remain key areas of focus for Lancashire Constabulary.”

“We have made positive steps over the past few months to address the needs of residents and to keep our towns safe.
