During the walkaround, the Commissioner heard about the difference the additional Op Centurion policing patrols, utilising £2m secured from Government for hotspot policing are making, with 534 additional hours, 11 arrests and 116 stop checks in January alone.

He visited areas that have benefited from extra patrols, and heard more about recent operations in the town and across Wyre, including the targeting of organised crime gangs through Op Warrior and dangerous driving crackdowns, alongside other local concerns.

Within PCC Snowden’s 2024/25 policing budget, there is further investment for Wyre and across Lancashire, with even more officers on the county’s streets.

“Joining officers on the beat has always been a key part of my role as Commissioner, listening to those people who are out in our communities and understanding how I can best support them in the fight against crime.

“Neighbourhood Policing Teams are essential in the fight against serious and organised crime – their precise knowledge can support intelligence, investigations and convictions.

“The recent investment in Fleetwood for hotspot policing is just one example of the successes we’ve seen through Op Centurion, getting tough on anti-social behaviour and ensuring the public feel safe in their homes and in their neighbourhoods.

“There has also been some fantastic work targeting organised crime gangs, clearing out the offenders that cause damage to areas, and working together with a range of organisations to empower residents and recreate their community.

“I will continue to support the Chief Constable with the necessary resources to target offenders, safeguard the public, and deliver my Fighting Crime Plan.”
