Andy Pratt MBE and the local policing team met with around ten young people aged between 10 and 11 and teachers at Ormskirk Primary School, following issues including speeding, parking and other road safety problems that have been experienced in the vicinity of the school.

They talked about staying safe around the roads, and what to look out for such as mobile phone use and no seatbelts.

Andy Pratt MBE, Lancashire’s Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner said:

“As Deputy Commissioner and Chair of the Lancashire Road Safety Partnership, I am working with partners and key stakeholders across the county to ensure our roads are as safe as possible and address dangerous driving, which will ultimately save lives.”

“Any opportunity to engage with young people on road safety, around schools where we know the risks are increased, is a vital part of our aim to encourage drivers to follow the rules of the road.

“It brings with it community buy-in, and educates children, and in doing so often parents, around the dangers that reckless driving can pose. It also sends a message to drivers about the people they’re putting at risk if they don’t drive safely.”
