The Ribble Valley MP and Commissioner Grunshaw talked about concerns being raised by constituents, specifically  surrounding retail crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.

The walkabout included stops along Berry Lane and other key retail locations, where they met with shop owners and staff to hear first-hand accounts of the challenges they face. The visit follows a series of incidents in Longridge, including vandalism, theft, and youth-related anti-social behaviour, which have impacted local businesses and community confidence.

Officers outlined the actions being taken to address these concerns, and how community intelligence is helping drive enforcement against offenders through ongoing initiatives, including Op Centurion and Op Vulture

Following the visit, Commissioner Clive Grunshaw said:

“It was a pleasure to join Maya in Longridge to connect with local business owners and residents, and to hear first-hand about the key issues affecting the community.

“Retail crime and anti-social behaviour are not just statistics – they affect real people, livelihoods, and communities. We know that business owners are on the frontline when it comes to dealing with theft, vandalism, and disruptive behaviour. Today’s patrol was about listening and showing that we are committed to working together to make our high streets safer and more welcoming for everyone.

“Whilst there is always more to be done, it was heartening to hear about the proactive efforts being made by officers in the area to tackle local concerns head on. Direct engagement helps us better understand these issues and ensures our policing strategies are responsive and effective.

“Longridge has a fantastic local high street, and as Police and Crime Commissioner I will continue to work closely with the Chief Constable to promote positive engagement between the police and the public, ensuring the safety of Lancashire residents.”
