Joining the community beat in the town centre, including the Concourse and surrounding areas such as Tawd Valley Park, issues such as anti-social behaviour, the illegal use of e-bikes and e-scooters, and retail crime, were all at the top of the agenda.

The visit also highlighted the work happening locally to deliver on the national Safer Streets Summer initiative, seeing police and partner agencies tackling crime in town centres through high-visibility policing and public engagement.

Clive Grunshaw, Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner said:

“It’s fantastic to get out into local communities and hear first-hand what the key local issues are across Lancashire and how the policing response is working to make a positive difference for the public.

“Here in Skelmersdale and across West Lancashire, our officers work around the clock to keep people safe, and with the Safer Streets Summer initiative bringing together policing, councils, businesses and other local organisations, we’re seeing partnership working take a step forward in tackling the issues that matter most to people.

“A key part of my job is working with those that know their areas best and engaging with local MPs is an important part of ensuring we deliver the best possible policing service that the people of Lancashire expect and deserve.
