The Government provided the extra funding to boost hotspot policing after the success of Operation Centurion, Lancashire Constabulary’s response to anti-social behaviour.

The money will support the policing of hotspots in every borough of Lancashire, and is additional to the £2m already secured by the Office to tackle ASB. In November last year, figures showed that since the launch of Op Centurion in July 2023 there had been over 3500 arrests and 826 civil actions issued due to anti-social behaviour.

In the first year alone, there were 27,000 additional foot patrol hours delivered, with a 13% reduction in anti-social behaviour within hotspot areas.

This investment is also going towards hotspot policing to tackle crime through Operation Grip.

Commissioner Clive Grunshaw said:

“I’m delighted to secure this additional funding towards tackling crime and anti-social behaviour in Lancashire, something which is a key priority in my Police and Crime Plan. It’s great to see the positive impact Op Centurion continues to have and we are building on this, both in ASB hotspots and beyond.

“ASB can ruin lives, causing a significant amount of harm and distress and it won’t be tolerated anywhere in Lancashire. As we rebuild neighbourhood policing, with officers on the ground, in their communities, tackling anti-social behaviour will remain an absolute priority and I will provide the Chief Constable with the backing to protect every corner of the county.
