The visit allowed the Commissioner and the Pendle and Clitheroe MP to discuss how officers are tackling local issues and how policing in the area is addressing concerns raised by residents.

Commissioner Grunshaw reaffirmed his commitment to supporting neighbourhood policing, through putting officers back on the streets and back the communities they serve to tackle crime and improve public confidence.

Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw said:

“Following discussions in Barnoldswick, it is clear what residents and their MP would like for the town – a visible police presence that allows them to engage positively with local officers.

“We know there is always more to be done but it’s encouraging to hear how the local inspector and neighbourhood team are working with the community to tackle issues such as anti-social behaviour and shop-lifting.

“Feedback from the local Inspector was overwhelmingly positive surrounding how police have worked to tackle issues issues that arise in the area such as anti-social behaviour and shop-lifting, though there is still work to be done.”

“As Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, I will continue to work alongside the Chief Constable to encourage positive engagement between police and the public, and to keep Lancashire residents safe.”

“It was great to join officers on patrol in Barnoldswick and to see what they are doing to tackle local issues in the area. As a former police inspector, rebuilding neighbourhood policing will be one of my top priorities.

“I am really pleased to hear the Commissioner’s commitment to bolstering neighbourhood policing, and getting more officers back on the streets in areas like ours. I will be working closely with the Commissioner and our local policing team to get the best possible outcomes for my constituents.”
